Level Switches

A type of sensor that is used to detect the level of liquids, as well as other substances that flow - such as slurries, powders and granular materials - level switches are an important element in many industrial and commercial processes, from manufacturing to water treatment, and can also be used for other purposes, such as monitoring the water level in a river or lake.

As experts in providing industrial components, PVL offers a variety of level switches, with options available to suit any requirements. Whether you need a device to measure a liquid, solid or slurry - in a storage tank or a state of agitation -
we can provide a device that will provide reliable and accurate measurements, at a price you can afford.

How to choose a level detector:

There are many different types of level switches on the market, and choosing the right product will depend on the application in question. When selecting a level detector, think about the environment where it will be installed - for example, will there be extreme temperature fluctuations or exposure to corrosive chemicals? Other things to consider include how you want the device to work and the type of reading you need it to provide.

Material
When it comes to what a level switch is made from, there are two main options: plastic or stainless steel. Stainless steel level switches provide a high level of corrosion resistance and can easily withstand high temperatures. Meanwhile, plastic level switches are generally made of polypropylene and offer lightweight and low cost option for less demanding environments.

Operation
Level detectors can work in a number of different ways. Float switches rely on the opening or closing of a mechanical switch, which can happen either due to direct contact with the switch or via a mechanically actuated float sensor. Meanwhile, ultrasonic level sensors are ideal for non-contact monitoring and use high-frequency sound.

Continuous or point?
Level switches may either measure level within a certain range in order to determine the amount of the substance - this is called a continuous value - or they can work via point-level sensors, which indicate whether the level is above or below a certain point.

Accuracy
Different projects will require varying degrees of accuracy, so be sure to check the accuracy rating of the items you're considering to make sure it's right for your requirements.
